Assad New Warning Against Instability In Region
11/20/2007

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad launched a new warning. He said political developments in the near future will scar the future of countries in the region and their people. The Syrian President urged everyone to deal with regional matters in a reasonable manner that would benefit the interest of all parties. On a related note, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Muallm, currently in Tehran, held a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Foreign Minister Manousheher Mottaki. Al-Moallem and his hosts discussed a number of issues, including developments in the Middle East, most notably the presidential crisis in Lebanon. Egyptian President Housni Mubarak warned the ongoing crisis in Lebanon can lead to division in the country and unwanted foreign interference. Mubarak believes that despite local and international efforts to reach a solution, Lebanon is at a dead end. But the Egyptian President still expressed hope that stability will prevail in the country. For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit stressed that Egypt backs a president that supports Lebanon's independence and enhances its sovereignty.
