On the eve of today's parliament session, the Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Michel Aoun told a press conference that he refused that his initiative be compromised and promised there would be changes to it. Aoun said he does not fear a vacuum in the presidential post, insisting on a political understanding

before amending the constitution. He vowed he would not make any concessions in this regard. Aoun stressed he wants a president who has veto powers in the forthcoming cabinet because without such powers he will not be able to achieve anything. Separately, Aoun expressed his refusal of appointing a prime minister from the Future Bloc. Aoun hosted a meeting of the opposition at his residence in Rabieh. Present were MP Ali Hassan Khalil, Amal Movement official Ahmad Baalaki, Hezbollah Chief Political Assistant, Hussein Khalil, FPM official Gebran Bassil as well as Youssef Fenyanos representing the Marada movement. While no official statement was released following the meeting, the participants said that they discussed the latest developments and agreed over the need to form a national unity government and hold parliamentary elections on time after setting up a new electoral law.
